Local Information

Carly Mauch, Director of Talent Development and Culture

 

Carly grew up in Washington State and played soccer competitively throughout high school. She attended Wake Forest University in North Carolina on a Track and Field scholarship. Her undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education and she received her Master’s in Liberal Studies during her 5th year. After college, Carly began working in Massachusetts at a local Before and After school program for elementary-aged students.  She spent 10 years growing into her role before moving to Virginia in 2020. Carly began working for Soccer Shots in May of 2021 as the Director of Talent Development and Culture for the DMV and currently resides in Maryland. A fun fact about Carly is that she has raised three puppies for Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

Alexis Orme, Coaching Coordinator

 

Coach Lexi started working with Soccer Shots as an intern in February 2021, then due to COVID it was ended. After she graduated from Towson University with a Bachelors in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing she continued to part time coach for Soccer Shots. She was promoted to a Coaching Coordinator of Frederick, Carroll, Howard, and Montgomery Counties. In her free time she loves going to the beach, reading, laying in the sun, or eating crabs in the summer! Her favorite part about working with Soccer Shots is watching all of the coaches and kids grow and learn and watching the kids smile and learn to love soccer as much a she did growing up!

Adam Doyle, Coaching Coordinator

Coach Adam was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland and has been playing Soccer since he was 4. He has been coaching soccer to all ages for the last 10 years, not only in the US, but also in Europe! He moved to the US in 2016 with the dream of turning his passion for the beautiful game into a career. Adam has coaching licenses from The American Youth Soccer Association, The Football Association of Ireland, and The Football Association of Wales. He also has certifications in First Aid, Exercise Science, and Sports Nutrition. Adam joined Soccer Shots in the summer of 2019 as an assistant coaching coordinator eventually moving his way into the coaching coordinator role. When not on Soccer Island Adam can be found in Arlington, VA with his wife, Alex, and his dog, Oliver. Adam is excited to continue making an impact in communities across the US by being a positive role model and encouraging children to chase their dreams!

Melissa Cain, Coaching Coordinator

 

Coach Melissa was welcomed to the Soccer Shots team as a full-time coach in the Fall season of 2019! Born and raised in Maryland, playing soccer and lacrosse from the age of 4 until she went off to graduate from West Virginia University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications with a Minor in Business Administration. Melissa has worked her way up and is now the Coaching Coordinator of the Baltimore & Anne Arundle region. When she is not busy coaching or coordinating she enjoys staying active, going to the beach, petting puppies, and hanging out with family and friends. Her favorite part about Soccer Shots is entertaining and being silly with her kiddos and her coaches while teaching them and seeing them learn and grow at the same time.

Joelle Frett, Recruiting Coordinator

Joelle Frett, a sports enthusiast, social and human rights activist, and recent college graduate, has always had a love for sports. As a kid, she enjoyed playing t-ball and golf and started basketball and soccer in middle school. Although she was born in Dallas, Texas, and lived in San Juan, Puerto Rico and outside of Chicago, Illinois, she describes herself as a “DC native”.  It is in DC where she volunteered for Special Olympics as a partner, helping youth with intellectual disabilities learn and love soccer. While a senior at Florida State University (FSU) studying remotely from Washington, DC, Joelle joined Soccer Shots in January 2021 as a part-time coach and was recently promoted to a full-time recruiting coordinator. At FSU, Joelle attained a BA with a major in Sociology and a minor in Spanish. She is bilingual in Spanish and English and has been speaking both languages since she was 4 years old. Joelle enjoys meeting new people and exploring new cultures, she comes from a very large family and loves to help others, especially kids, as she always tries to have fun. Through her studies and everyday life, Joelle has come to appreciate the value of continuous learning and she is naturally inquisitive. She hopes to share some of her life and sports lessons sports with others and look forward to learning from others.

Bea Florentino, Training Coordinator

 

Bea has always had a passion for sports. She played soccer for 12 years as a goalie both in club and high school. She started coaching at the age of 16 after finding that is where her passion with sports was. She has coached ages 2-18 both at the rec and elite levels. Bea joined the Soccer Shots team in 2015 and is currently working as the Training Coordinator.

Chris Janush, VP of Operations

 Chris grew up with soccer [his father was the 1991 National High School Boys’ Soccer Coach of the Year] and has continued to stay involved with the beautiful game as a player, coach, parent, and Arsenal FC fan.  Chris brings extensive business and sports experience to his role as Vice President of Operations, having worked locally for the University of Maryland, Terrapin Sports Marketing, and The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille prior to joining Soccer Shots in 2019.  He holds a master’s degree in Sport Management from the University of Connecticut.  Chris has lived in Laurel, MD since 2000 and is the father of four.  His children have played soccer locally for SAC, Thunder, and Laurel soccer clubs, in addition to Reservoir High School, University of Maryland women’s club team, and Howard Community College.

Britney Kendall, Operations Coordinator

 

Britney is a native of Northern Virginia. She grew up playing soccer all her life and graduated from Radford University, where she had the pleasure of playing on the Women’s Soccer Team. In May of 2017, she joined the Soccer Shots team as an intern and currently serves as our Operations Coordinator. When Britney isn’t holding down the operations, she spends her time as an assistant coach for her high school alma mater’s girls soccer program, South County High school! You can also, catch her snowboarding down a mountain during the summer!

Robin O’Mara, Operations Coordinator

 

Robin is a Maryland native who is passionate about sports. She played soccer, basketball, and softball through high school, but soccer has always been her favorite. She competed at the collegiate level at Messiah University and graduated with a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics. In August 2017, she joined the Soccer Shots team as a part time coach and transitioned to the operations team in September 2020. She is honored to be part of a team that impacts the lives of children and helps them develop a love for the wonderful sport of soccer. In her spare time, you can find Robin watching a soccer game or cheering on one of her 3 children on the soccer field.

Camille McCarthy, Operations Coordinator

 

Camille has grown up playing sports her whole life and understands the importance of teaching sports at a young age to help teach children character development. Camille went to the University of Lynchburg where she graduated in 2017 with a major in Business Administration and minor in Sports Management. During her time at Lynchburg, Camille was a part of the Women’s Soccer Team and was with the team when they won their first National Championship in 2014. Camille also ran cross country and track and field during her time at Lynchburg. Since graduating college, Camille has been working in the operations side of Soccer Shots. When Camille is not at work she loves to spend time outside running and being active or in the summer hanging out at the beach.

Logann Braun, Operations Coordinator

 

Logann is from Hagerstown, Maryland. She graduated from Eastern Mennonite University in 2019, where she played on the women’s soccer team, and received a degree in Recreation Leadership & Sports Studies with minors in Coaching and Psychology. After graduating from EMU, Logann received her Master’s in Sports Management from the University of New Haven in 2020. Logann grew up loving soccer and now that she’s finished playing, she’s glad to work for a place where kids can also learn to love the game. In her free time, Logann loves watching sports and hanging out with her dog.

Stuart Coulson, Human Resources Manager

 

Stuart is a sports nut, and HR geek! After graduating college, he followed his passion of youth soccer development to Columbus, Ohio where he worked as an intern for the Columbus Crew (MLS). He joined Soccer Shots in 2017 and since then, he has developed a passion for human resources because he can positively impact those around him through his job. He currently serves as the Human Resources Manager which entails management of the human resources/accounting function in the DC/MD/VA and Nashville franchises. Stuart’s favorite hobbies are playing/watching soccer, running/working out/hiking/playing sports with his wife, and reading.

Kelsey Watson, Internal Operations Coordinator

 Kelsey Watson is a sports enthusiast and a recent college graduate. She has always had a love for sports. As a kid, she enjoyed playing t-ball, softball, basketball, tennis, and joined her first club soccer team when she was 8 years old. She continued playing soccer and other sports in High School and in College. While being a senior at James Madison University and playing on the JMU Women’s Club Soccer Team, Kelsey decided that she wanted to continue to share her love for soccer by applying to work at Soccer Shots. Immediately, following graduation Kelsey joined the DMV Soccer Shots team in June 2021 as an Internal Operations Coordinator. At JMU, Kelsey attained a BS with a major in Sports Management and minor in General Business. Kelsey has a passion for sports but also loves meeting new people, cooking, music, and going on spontaneous adventures! She hopes to share her love of sports to others and hopes she can make the world a better place.

Ben Johnson, Marketing and Sponsorship Coordinator

 

 

Ben is a native of Frederick County, MD. He graduated from the University of Maryland in May of 2019 with a degree in Kinesiology. He then spent the next two years working as a Marketing Assistant for NC State Athletics in Raleigh, NC. Ben has always had a passion for soccer, having grown up playing youth soccer for 6 years. In June 2021 he joined the Soccer Shots team. Ben is looking forward to bringing his passion for soccer to working in youth sports!

Noah Kudla, Graduate Assistant

 

Noah is a huge soccer fan, but an even bigger statistics nerd. With his passion for the two, he has developed an interest in data analytics and forecasting. It is that interest that brought him to Soccer Shots. Joining the company in 2018 as an intern, Noah is now a graduate assistant continuing his studies at the University of Baltimore in pursuit of a master’s degree in business administration with a focus in data analytics. In his free time, he has developed his own fantasy soccer league from the ground up that he and his friends participate in yearly. Other than sitting behind a desk, Noah is an avid runner and soccer player who loves coaching with Soccer Shots as much as he loves his spreadsheets!

James O’Brien, Brand Ambassador

James O’Brien is a passionate soccer coach and fitness enthusiast. When not on soccer island, James enjoys time walking around his neighborhood with his pug and fiancee, traveling the world, and working on his master’s degree in exercise science. Hailing from Mountainside, NJ, James moved to Baltimore, MD in May 2021 after spending two years in Boston, MA upon graduation from Ramapo College in 2019. Outside of Soccer Shots, he is proud to have gained experience coaching at soccer organizations such as the NE Revolution and Juventus Boston Academy as well as at non-profit childhood programs such as Playworks and the YMCA. I have coached at SS in Westchester, NY, Greater Boston, and am excited to be taking on the role of Brand Ambassador in the DMV! James believes in the power sport unlocks to influence children’s lives.

Abdul Isiaq, Brand Ambassador

 

Abdul is a passionate lifelong soccer enthusiast and DMV native who just joined the Soccer Shots team in May 2021 as a Brand Ambassador. Having played several years of elite-level club & high school soccer in Maryland and DC, Abdul returned to the area after college to coach varsity soccer. Currently, in graduate school, Abdul understands the value of learning & fostering healthy social dynamics and always looks to make every trip to Soccer Island a fun & positive experience! In their spare time, Abdul enjoys listening to music, reading Octavia Butler novels, and watching nature documentaries.

Kalen Bolden, Brand Ambassador

 

Kalen first started playing sports at 3 years old, and his very first sport was soccer. Football did become his primary sport as he played for 13 years and coached for 4 but he has brought that passion for sports and working with kids to Soccer Shots since summer 2020. The coaches that he had as a child inspired him to create the same kind of positive impact on the youth of today. With three kids of his own Kalen fully understands how vital programs like Soccer Shots can be to children. When Kalen isn’t out on soccer island he is often reading, writing, or gaming but he always has at least one of his kids joining in on the fun!

Seth Stennett, Brand Ambassador

 

 

Seth currently plays semi-professional soccer with Fredericksburg City United in the EPSL. He attended Northern Kentucky University and majored in Accounting and Finance with a minor in Business Administration. Seth has been coaching with Soccer Shots since the Fall of 2020. Soccer has made a major impact in his life and he wants to share the joy of soccer with the next generations. When Seth is not on Soccer Island, you can find him exploring cities and hiking in the woods.

Victoria White, Brand Ambassador

 Victoria has been playing soccer since age 3 and has always had a love for this incredible game! She played competitively all throughout her childhood and during High School had the privilege of attending a camp trained by Christie Rampone! She was sadly unable to play in college due to an injury. While in college, she studied Child and Adolescent QQpnno Psychology and had originally planned to become a Child Psychologist! Once she got married, she decided to have kids and be a stay-at-home mom for several years! In 2019, she came on board with Soccer Shots and she’s found it to be an incredibly enriching experience working with such amazing kids! She was able to take her love of soccer and passion for helping children and combine that into a wonderful career! She is a major fan of all things Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars! She is also obsessed with coffee and loves to play other sports such as basketball! In her free time, she enjoys riding bikes, swimming, watching movies, spending time with her family, shopping, and planning her next Disney trip!

Ryan Casto, Brand Ambassador

 

 

Ryan is originally from West Virginia and recently moved to the area to work with Soccer Shots. He graduated from American Public University in 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport & Health Sciences. Ryan has been coaching soccer for the past 11 years and has spent the last seven years as a high school soccer coach. Ryan is excited to work with Soccer Shots and help children fall in love with the game of soccer, just as he did as a child.

Camilo Beltran, Executive Director

Camilo is a former Maryland regional and state champion soccer player from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. He attended University of Maryland College Park where he majored in finance with a minor in marketing. Growing up soccer coaches played an important role in his life. The lessons that he acquired on the soccer field shaped him both personally and professionally. It is that influence that brought him to Soccer Shots in 2012 to bring a program that provides children an opportunity to learn valuable life lessons through the beautiful game that he loves. He is grateful that the Soccer Shots DMV team has had the opportunity to serve over 50,000 players & families over the years. Camilo has coached youth soccer for over 15 years for a number of local clubs and holds a USSF National D License. When not on Soccer Island or in the office, you can find Camilo kicking the ball at a local park or watching soccer with his wife and kids.

The History of Soccer Shots

Our founding partners, Jeremy Sorzano and Jason Webb, were soccer teammates both in college and professionally. They formed Soccer Shots® in 1997 after recognizing a lack of quality soccer programs for children under age 8. They shared an entrepreneurial spirit, a deep love of soccer, and a passion to inspire children to live fit and healthy lives.

The success of Soccer Shots in Charlotte, NC and Harrisburg, PA, where Sorzano and Webb first launched their businesses, led to several of their friends and former teammates wanting to get involved. In 2005, Soccer Shots began franchising and opened its first four franchises in OH, DE, FL, and PA. The business opportunity began to attract more soccer entrepreneurs, and Soccer Shots has enjoyed growing around the country and into Canada.

In May of 2009, Justin Bredeman, another former college soccer teammate, became the third Soccer Shots partner. Justin brought with him eight years of experience from Auntie Anne’s, Inc., a pretzel franchising company, where he led a team that supported nearly 800 franchise units. His deep understanding of the franchise business model also comes from the knowledge gained from his five years of owning and running a Soccer Shots business of his own.

From its humble beginnings, Soccer Shots has grown beyond Jeremy and Jason’s biggest dreams, with over 200 territories across 37 states and Canada. There were over 440,000 enrollments into Soccer Shots programming in 2018.
