Coach Desmond was born and raised in Ottawa. He attended Nepean High School
in Westboro and is now enrolled in a BA of Human Kinetics at St. Francis Xavier
University in Nova Scotia. Coach Desmond has been playing soccer for over eight years and his favorite position is goalkeeper. In Ottawa, Coach Desmond has played for the St-Anthony soccer club as well as WOSC at the regional level. Desmond has assistant-coached for the Ottawa Futsal Club as a goalkeeper instructor and over the summer of 2021 started a camp to teach young children the basics of soccer.
Along with soccer, some other sports Coach Desmond plays are futsal and ultimate frisbee. This is Coach Desmond’s first year coaching with Soccer Shots and he is very excited!
Coach Devenna began her passion for soccer from a very young age. At the age of 3 years old, Devenna began her soccer career in her hometown of Peterborough, Ontario. Since then, Devenna has maintained her involvement in the soccer community throughout various roles such as recreational and competitive playing levels as well as coaching and mentoring. Today, Devenna is a student at The University of Ottawa where she will be beginning her fourth year of a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Marketing where she hopes to someday develop a career in sports marketing. In recent years, Devenna has mentored teams in the Special Olympics and has taken pride in encouraging and leading her 5 younger siblings to become involved with soccer and other sports. Through her 18 years of involvement in the soccer community, Coach Devenna has developed an irreplaceable relationship with soccer that has taught her the importance of
patience, team work and dedication. Through her role as a Coach with Soccer Shots, Devenna is determined to bring
a positive and encouraging experience to all players and hopes to ignite the same lasting experience and passion that was created for her at a similar age. Coach Devenna is excited to lead these players to develop a comfort with teamwork and create a sense of confidence and social skills that will aid them throughout many other adventures they may encounter.
Coach Devon was born and raised in Oshawa, Ontario, and is a childcare worker having worked or volunteering with kids since he was 12 years old. Coach Devon was a track and cross-country runner as well as a soccer player throughout elementary and high school. Coach Devon played a lot of unorganized soccer including street soccer and freestyle football, even competing in Red Bull Street Style Canada in 2012, being the youngest competitor at the time. As a teenager, Devon experienced a lot of injuries, but through encouraging and guiding on the sidelines, his teammates began calling him “Coach Devon”. He used his experience of coaching his teammates alongside his experience with kids to volunteer at the YMCA Durham and has recently coached 2-8 years old in Ottawa. Coach Devon has also worked as an after-school programmer and childcare centre worker even working in Ottawa’s only 24/7 childcare center. Coach Devon is also a part-time anthropology and philosophy student at the University of Ottawa.
Coach Isabelle is an energetic athletic coach with 4+ years of experience motivating clients, mentoring students and coaching kids. She was always an athlete. Whether it was on the basketball court in highschool or running for the volleyball team, being a part of a team has always been a part of her life. Coach Isabelle went to Louis-Riel highschool and was in the basketball team for 6 years and coached multiple teams. One of them was the 7 grade basketball team (Les Rebelles) and made them win the finals with a score of 25-23. Coach Isabelle now goes to University of Ottawa and applies herself to a lot of volunteering with coaching kids and organising events when she can. Coach Isabelle’s goal as a coach is to show the importance of living an active and healthy fun lifestyle as well as installing core values and principles players will carry with them on and off the court. It is important to her to lead by example. She loves working with kids and bringing them a smile and joy at the end of the day and bringing positive energy all around.
