Programs

Soccer Shots Portland offers three different programs to meet the developmental needs of children aged 2-8. See below to find the program that is right for your child.

We are committed to providing a positive growth experience for your child using our expert-approved curriculum to teach new character words and skills each week while having fun!

Health & Safety

Health & Safety

A NOTE ON HEALTH & SAFETY ON SOCCER ISLAND

Your child’s health and safety is our #1 priority. That’s why we’ve developed a series of protocols that allow for a safe return to play. We’ve been carefully working to meet every requirement of the Oregon Health Authority’s and Washington State Department of Health’s guidelines for our programs, as well as keeping up to date with State and local mandates. Soccer Shots Portland continues to monitor all updates to the guidelines and requirements to ensure we are up to date. Our policy was last updated: October 1, 2022.

We’ve modified many aspects of our operations and curriculum and will be asking you to make some modifications too. As we return to the field, We’ll be doing it together in these key ways:

MASK REQUIREMENTS

Soccer Shots stays up to date on mandates and guidance in both Oregon State and Washington State. Masks are not required for participants in Soccer Shots outdoor programs. Facemasks are optional for coaches (effective June 1, 2022). [updated October 1, 2022]

SMALL GROUPS THAT DON’T MIX

The #1 thing we are doing to reduce risk is maintaining small groups of 14 or less. This means, all season long, your child will be playing with a maximum of 13 other players and not more than 2 coaches. Locations with multiple groups will not mix players. By maintaining what the state and CDC call a “stable cohort” everyone’s risk drops dramatically.

CLEANING, SANITIZING & DISINFECTING

We’ll be taking more steps to ensure players, coaches and equipment are safe for play. We’ll be washing hands before and after class; we ask that enrolled families commit to coming to the field with washed or sanitized hands and washing or sanitizing hands after class too. Together, we can help keep Soccer Island safe.

CURRICULUM ADJUSTMENTS

From increasing social distance, to removing all touch and high fives, our curriculum has been modified at a national level by experts we don’t have direct access to locally and then vetted and adjusted to ensure it meets all state and local guidelines.

TRUST & COMMUNICATION – FEVER OR COUGH? STAY HOME

It may or may not be COVID, but if a caregiver, a participant or a coach develops a symptom that the Oregon Health Authority has flagged, we ask that you remain home or wear a face mask to class. This means we’re all trusting each other.

COACH TRAINING, INFO & RULES

As role models who teach children to follow rules, we’ll be following the rules of the Oregon Health Authority, and our national franchise system. We’ve attended dozens of webinars and consulted with medical, sport, and governmental experts to put in place protocols that help ensure the health and safety of those on the field.

Together we can reduce the risk that in our programs and in our community while still getting so many of the emotional, social, psychological and physical benefits of Soccer Shots.

OREGON HEALTH AUTHORITY UPDATES

Effective July 24, 2020 the OHA requires adults and children ages 5 and up to wear face-coverings and “does not recommend wearing a plastic face shield alone.” Soccer Shots is required to follow the mandate and will require adults and children ages 5-and-up to wear masks.

Effective June 30, 2021 the mask mandate in Oregon has been lifted and the OHA no longer requires masks be worn outdoors.

Effective March 12, 2022 the indoor mask mandate in Oregon has been lifted. We still encourage the use of facemasks for anyone on the field who feels more comfortable wearing one.

WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH UPDATES
Effective June 26, 2020 the Washington State Secretary of Health, John Wiesman, issued a health order mandating the use of cloth face coverings. Clark County Public Health website explains, “The mandate applies to adults and children ages 5 years and older. Face coverings are recommended, but not required, for children 2 to 5 years old while in public places. Children younger than 2 should not wear face coverings.

Effective June 30, 2021 the mask mandate in Washington has been lifted and the WSDOH no longer requires masks be worn outdoors.

Effective March 12, 2022 the indoor mask mandate in Washington has been lifted. We still encourage the use of facemasks for anyone on the field who feels more comfortable wearing one.

Health & Safety policies and procedures are subject to change. Soccer Shots will notify enrolled families via email if any changes to participant requirements are made during a Season. Text updated 10/03/22.
