John Metzler
Director of Coaching
My name is John Metzler, and I am very excited to join the Soccer Shots Pittsburgh team. I grew up in the Pittsburgh area and developed my love of soccer after participating in youth soccer in this area at various levels. I’ve remained an enthusiastic fan and supporter of the sport throughout my life. After living in the New York metropolitan area (including living in Kearny, NJ; known as “Soccer Town USA”), I was excited to take advantage of an opportunity to return to Pittsburgh with my wife Joanna and my son William. Eager to get my son involved in my favorite sport, signed William up for Soccer Shots was immediately impressed with the quality, professionalism, and care shown by the coaches. Soccer Shots reaches kids at an age that has the greatest potential to instill a life-long appreciation of the sport and its ability to encourage both teamwork and individual improvement. It is my goal, as Director of Coaching, to continue to maintain high standards and make Soccer Shots a highlight of every enrolled child’s week.

Hello! My name is Chris Schutte and I have lived my entire life here in Pittsburgh. I am blessed to be the father of 3 young, very active sons and the foster parent to an outstanding young man who recently graduated from the culinary program at IUP. Matt Meyers
Coach
Hello, I’m Coach Matt! I am a 2012 graduate from Highlands High School and a 2016 graduate from Duquesne University. I have been playing soccer since micro level when I was four years old and I have grown to absolutely love the game. Playing sports in general, but mainly soccer, has helped teach me countless lessons in life including how be a good sport, how to interact with others, how to be a good teammate, how to be a leader, how to never give up, how to learn from defeats and so much more. As a coach I not only look forward to teaching kids how to play the game, but more importantly how to apply the lessons sports teach into everyday life.

This will be my first season with Soccer Shots and can’t explain the excitement I have with working with your child. Not only will we be introducing your child to the vital skills needed for the game, but more importantly, the life lessons that the beautiful game offers!
