Coach Evan
Executive Director
Coach Evan has played professional soccer for six years with both the Richmond and Charlotte pro teams. He’s a seasoned coach at all levels of soccer and has worked with hundreds of youth players as a Soccer Shots instructor. Evan is passionate about using soccer to develop and work with children of all ages.
Coach Jason
Director of Operations
Coach Jason has been instructing youth soccer of all ages for many years and serves as our Director of Operations. He absolutely loves soccer and began playing when he was three years old. After playing soccer in college at Penn State, he played seven years of professional soccer in the MLS for FC Dallas and in the USL for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Richmond Kickers. Jason and his wife Carter have three kids – Beau, Ellie, and Sydney.
Coach Andrew
Director of Coaching
Coach Andrew has played soccer for the past 20 years. He grew up in Richmond playing for the Kickers and he continued to play collegiate soccer at VCU while earning his master’s degree. A seasoned veteran coach, he is a long-standing member of the Soccer Shots Team and serves as our Director of Coaching. When not coaching, Andrew loves spending time with his wife and two young daughters.
Coach Brynn
Program Director
Coach Brynn grew up in Richmond and attended the University of Virginia where she received her master’s in Elementary Education. Brynn played soccer her entire childhood and went on to play in high school before becoming a coach. After coaching and coordinating programs for over 5 years, she now serves as our Program Director. When not playing soccer Coach Brynn loves cheering on the Hoos and visiting Lake Michigan with family!
Coach Sarah
Program Coordinator
Coach Sarah started playing soccer at the age of five in Orange County, VA. Sarah has always enjoyed working with children and has worked with all ages through youth development organizations such as Young Life and the YMCA. As a coach and member of the Soccer Shots operations team, she is passionate about soccer because it provides opportunities for personal and collective growth. When not coaching she enjoys winning against other members of the Soccer Shots team at Topgolf.
Coach James
Program Coordinator
Coach James is from Manassas, Virginia, where he grew up playing soccer. He moved to Richmond to attend VCU where he graduated with a bachelor’s in fashion marketing. He has coached for Soccer Shots for 5 years and loves to make a difference in kids’ lives! He is an avid Arsenal fan and loves his Mustang race-car!
Coach Tiffany
Coaching Coordinator
Coach Tiffany has been in the soccer world for over two decades. She played in college at Roanoke College as well as Longwood University where she was awarded Freshman of the Year in the conference as well as tying the school record for goals scored per season. Tiffany has coached multiple soccer camps and clinics to elementary aged children, including a U6 team for Chesterfield Strikers. Tiffany lives in Chesterfield with her son Hunter, who is also a soccer player.
Coach Abbey
Coach Abbey has played soccer since she was 4 years old. She grew up playing for the Richmond Kickers and now plays at VCU on the women’s club soccer team, also earning the title of vice president for the team. When Abbey isn’t coaching soccer you can find her behind a drum set or listening to music, which is her second favorite hobby aside from soccer. Soccer is Abbey’s favorite part of her childhood and she’s very excited to get to share it with any kid that comes her way!
Coach Carlos
Coach Carlos here. I have been playing soccer and coaching for most of my life. At the present time, I am coaching at the Shady Grove YMCA during the spring and winter session, plus coaching an indoor team at SCOR. I am very ambitious, determined to reach my goals and teach kids the game that I love and I hope to pass this same feeling to all the kids I teach.
Coach Carolyn
Coach Carolyn grew up playing soccer, volleyball, softball and track in a small town just north of New York City. She moved south to attend the University of Richmond and is raising a family of three soccer-loving boys, all of whom she has coached. She is a trained EMT, loves to sing, dance and play the guitar and is always up for any kind of outdoor adventure.
Coach CJ
Coach CJ is from Woodbridge, Virginia where he grew up playing soccer. He attended Randolph-Macon College where he played soccer for 3 years. He continues to coach and play throughout the Richmond area. He also currently is a teacher at Seven Hills school.
Coach Cristian
Coach Cristian has been playing soccer since he took his first steps! He played club soccer his entire youth and a couple seasons in high school at south lakes. He enjoys playing soccer whenever he has the chance and loves to keep up with all things soccer. He is a student at VCU in the school of arts, focusing on graphic design. He hopes to get as many people to love and appreciate the “beautiful game”.
Coach Eddie
Coach Eddie is from Richmond, VA. He has been a long time soccer fan, attending VCU and Kickers games, as well as playing recreationally. He has run multiple after school programs in the Richmond area and has worked with kids and young adults since 2012. He enjoys painting and spending time along the James River!
Coach Ethan
Coach Ethan has been playing soccer (futból) his whole life and decided it was time to broaden that passion by teaching others how to play. He is a current student at Virginia Commonwealth University studying Urban and Regional Studies and Planning with a minor in Spanish! He is also a huge Leicester City fan—go Foxes!
Coach Evan
Coach Evan was born in Washington DC and is currently in graduate school at VCU pursuing a masters degree in Elementary Education. Evan has played soccer since a very early age and is a huge Liverpool fan. In his free time he loves to watch sports and visit museums. He is particularly interested in dinosaurs, his favorite being the Triceratops.
Coach Finlay
Coach Finlay grew up playing soccer in Midlothian, Virginia. Finlay started playing at age 4 and played all the way through high school. Finlay lives in Midlothian after graduating from the University of Southern California. As a coach, Finlay wants to bring positive energy and help kids to learn new skills.
Coach Hannah
Coach Hannah started playing soccer at four years old in New Jersey where she was raised. She played soccer in undergrad at Franklin & Marshall College and still loves to play pick-up soccer. She has experience refereeing and coaching young kids to high school players. Along with coaching Soccer Shots she is completing her final year of studies at William & Mary Law School.
Coach Irby
Coach Irby is from Richmond, VA and grew up in the Short Pump area playing for the Richmond Strikers since the age of 7. Irby is earning a degree in History at VCU and plans to return for his Masters in Sports Leadership. He currently works as a high school coach for The Steward School during the fall seasons and Deep Run in the spring seasons and previously coached at Godwin where he has worked with some of Central Virginia’s top high school players for the last 5 years. Irby’s passion for soccer and sharing his knowledge of the game with kids and young adults is what gets him out of bed each and every day!
Coach Isaiah
Coach Isaiah is from Staunton, Virginia, and moved to Richmond to attend VCU. He studied Spanish and Political Science at Virginia Commonwealth University. He started playing soccer at a young age and played through high school while winning two state championships. Playing soccer with his friends and traveling with his family are his favorite pastimes. Coming from a family that organized weekly pick-up games, Isaiah sees it as an honor to teach and share the beautiful sport of soccer to children in the Richmond area.
Coach John
Coach John loves the game of soccer and has been playing soccer since the age of six. He went to John Tyler community College and Strayer University to study Homeland Security and Criminal Justice. John has experience coaching soccer in local youth clubs around the Richmond area. He love Serie A (Italian Professional Soccer League), United States Men’s National Team and anything on TV with soccer!
Coach Jordan
Coach Jordan has several years of soccer under his belt from his younger years, and has always been an avid fan of soccer. He has over a decade of experience working directly with youth all over the state of Virginia! He has a passion to invest in the community, and loves to engage youth and empower them to be the best version of themselves that they possibly can! Outside of Soccer Shots, coach Jordan is also a music producer, song writer, public performer, and mental health worker in Richmond. When not working he enjoys spending time with his wife and family members.
Coach Katie
Coach Katie is a Richmond native who grew up on the soccer field. It was a long-time family joke that she learned to walk just so she could dribble a soccer ball. While she grew up participating in many sports and hobbies, like swimming, running, painting, and drawing, nothing could surpass her passion for soccer. Katie recently graduated VCU with a B.S. in Psychology and loves being a part of the Soccer Shots team to combine her love of soccer and working with children.
Coach Kelsey
Coach Kelsey has been working with kids for the past couple of years, coaching and working after-school programs! She grew up on a farm in Fauquier county, where her favorite animals to play with were the goats. She moved to Richmond in 2014 and has been living in the area since. Kelsey graduated with a B.S. in exercise science and has played a wide variety of sports!
Coach Lauren
Coach Lauren grew up in Michigan, where she studied Elementary Education and eventually earned a master’s in Early Childhood. She loves working with children and is dedicated to creating positive, engaging experiences that build skills and confidence. She has always enjoyed playing a variety of sports, and her experience includes classroom teaching, after school programs, and camp counseling. When Lauren has free time she goes to concerts, dabbles in backpacking, and seizes any viable opportunity to travel.
Coach Luke
Coach Luke is originally from Austin, Texas and has played soccer since he was 5 years old. He played up through his senior year of high school for Lake Braddock Secondary School in Northern Virginia and now attends VCU in Richmond. Luke is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from VCU and hopes to start his own restaurant one day. In his free time he loves to skateboard, go hiking, and play soccer.
Coach Madi
Coach Madi was born in Atlanta, Georgia and is a music major at VCU school of the arts. She started playing soccer at a very young age and is now rediscovering her love for it in club soccer at school. She has always had an interest in teaching kids and loves getting to share something that is special to her with them. Aside from soccer, Madi loves music of any kind and can’t resist an opportunity to be around it and enjoy it.
Coach Mark
Coach Mark was born in Alexandria, Egypt but later moved to Richmond, Virginia at the age of 5. He attended Mills E Godwin High School and played soccer there while also running track. Soccer was his biggest passion since he was young. He has always loved playing, watching, and reading about soccer. He currently attends VCU with the goal of attending law school. Mark enjoys teaching young athletes about the sport he loves while also learning more about the beautiful game!
Coach Nicholas
Coach Nick has had 14 years of experience playing soccer on different levels. He has coached and taught soccer for 7 years at different camps. In his free time Coach Nick enjoys playing basketball, rugby, as well as venturing outdoors to go hiking or kayaking. If he can’t be outside he will play his trumpet, saxophone, guitar or drums.
Coach Mario
Coach Mario is currently attending VCU pursuing a degree in Broadcast Journalism with hopes to be a sport broadcaster. In his free time he loves to watch sports, and he is a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan! He also plays video games and loves to watch new movies that come out!
Coach Pavlos
Coach Pavlos (“Coach Pav”) is from Athens, Greece and attended Manchester University in England, UK studying Sports Management. He has played semi-professional soccer in Greece and England and has professional experience working as a Sales & Marketing director for an engineering firm specializing in modular buildings. He’s been a soccer coach for the last 9 years gaining his qualifications in England, running camps all across the US East Coast, and coaching Soccer Shots for over 4 years!
Coach Plato
Coach Plato grew up in Chester, Virginia and has played soccer ever since he could walk. He played club soccer for the Richmond Kickers and along with Soccer Shots he currently coaches a U12 team. He’s worked with children for almost 8 years and has plans to become a Physical Education teacher. He’s most excited to show children his passion for the sport of soccer and hopes they fall in love with it too!
Coach Skinner
Coach Skinner has 17 years of soccer experience between his time as a player, coach, and referee. Skinner was also the Assistant Youth Sports Coordinator with the Chickahominy YMCA when he was 17 years old. Skinner loves soccer and has 8 seasons under his belt as a certified referee with the United States Soccer Federation. In his free time, Coach Skinner likes to build and fix computers.
Coach Tyler
Coach Tyler is a native of Richmond, VA . He is currently enrolled at VCU and JTCC as a Music performance Major. He has experience teaching outdoor recreation, music camps, and childcare services for 4 years. He is an awesome team player and soccer coach!
