Coach Evan has played professional soccer for six years with both the Richmond and Charlotte pro teams. He’s a seasoned coach at all levels of soccer and has worked with hundreds of youth players as a Soccer Shots instructor. Evan is passionate about using soccer to develop and work with children of all ages.
Director of Operations
Coach Jason has been instructing youth soccer of all ages for many years and serves as our Director of Operations. He absolutely loves soccer and began playing when he was three years old. After playing soccer in college at Penn State, he played seven years of professional soccer in the MLS for FC Dallas and in the USL for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Richmond Kickers. Jason and his wife Carter have three kids – Beau, Ellie, and Sydney.
Director of Coaching
Coach Andrew has played soccer for the past 20 years. He grew up in Richmond playing for the Kickers and he continued to play collegiate soccer at VCU while earning his master’s degree. A seasoned veteran coach, he is a long-standing member of the Soccer Shots Team and serves as our Director of Coaching. When not coaching, Andrew loves spending time with his wife and two young daughters.
Coach Brynn grew up in Richmond and attended the University of Virginia where she received her master’s in Elementary Education. Brynn played soccer her entire childhood and started coaching for Soccer Shots in high school. After coaching and coordinating programs for over 6 years, she now serves as our Program Director. When not playing soccer Coach Brynn loves cheering on the Hoos and visiting Lake Michigan with family!
Coach Sarah started playing soccer at the age of five in Orange County, VA. Sarah has always enjoyed working with children and has worked with all ages through youth development organizations such as Young Life and the YMCA. As a coach and member of the Soccer Shots operations team, she is passionate about soccer because it provides opportunities for personal and collective growth. When not coaching she enjoys winning against other members of the Soccer Shots team at Topgolf.
Coach James is from Manassas, Virginia, where he grew up playing soccer. He moved to Richmond to attend VCU where he graduated with a bachelor’s in fashion marketing. He has coached for Soccer Shots for 5 years and loves to make a difference in kids’ lives! He is an avid Arsenal fan and loves his Mustang race-car!
Coach Isaiah is from Staunton, Virginia, and moved to Richmond to attend VCU. He studied Spanish and Political Science at Virginia Commonwealth University. He started playing soccer at a young age and played through high school while winning two state championships. Playing soccer with his friends and traveling with his family are his favorite pastimes. Coming from a family that organized weekly pick-up games, Isaiah sees it as an honor to teach and share the beautiful sport of soccer to children in the Richmond area.
Coach Skinner has 17 years of soccer experience between his time as a player, coach, and referee. Skinner was also the Assistant Youth Sports Coordinator with the Chickahominy YMCA when he was 17 years old. Skinner loves soccer and has 8 seasons under his belt as a certified referee with the United States Soccer Federation. In his free time, Coach Skinner likes to build and fix computers.
Coach Abbey has played soccer since she was 4 years old. She grew up playing for the Richmond Kickers and now plays at VCU on the women’s club soccer team, also earning the title of vice president for the team. When Abbey isn’t coaching soccer you can find her behind a drum set or listening to music, which is her second favorite hobby aside from soccer. Soccer is Abbey’s favorite part of her childhood and she’s very excited to get to share it with any kid that comes her way!
Coach Andrew is a graduate of James Madison University where he was the equipment manager for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams! When Andrew isn’t coaching, you can find him watching whatever soccer game is on, listening to music, or assisting Nutzy at the Richmond Flying Squirrels!
Coach Anna has been playing soccer since she was a toddler and is excited to share her love of soccer with others! She moved to Richmond in the summer of 2022 after graduating from William & Mary with a degree in biology. She enjoys playing instruments, taking care of her plants, and hanging out with her 2 cats.
Coach Byron has played soccer since he was 6 and easily calls soccer his favorite sport. In addition to being a caregiver for a 13 year-old boy with autism for a year, Byron has years of coaching experience as a volunteer coach for a U-8 Rec soccer team in high school and a Saturday soccer league in Charlottesville. Coach Byron gets excited about coaching soccer and expects an amazing season!
Coach Brandon is from Richmond, VA. He is a former college and semi-professional soccer player and has previous experience coaching with kids from 5 – 18 years old. He is currently a VCU student in the school of business studying Management. He loves everything about soccer and is huge Bayern Munchen fan – Mia San Mia!
Coach Carlos has been playing soccer and coaching for most of his life. He is currently coaching at the Shady Grove YMCA during the spring and winter session, plus coaching an indoor team. He’s a very ambitious, determined to reach goals and teach kids the game that he loves and I hope to pass this same feeling to all the kids he’s coaches.
Coach Caroline grew up in Richmond, VA and has been playing soccer since she was 4 years old. She studied athletic training at the University of South Carolina and worked as the athletic trainer with New Mexico State University’s women’s soccer team before moving back to Richmond. In her free time, she enjoys playing pickup soccer, exploring new places, and creating art.
Coach Carson played many sports growing up including volleyball, basketball, baseball, golf, and hockey but has always had a passion for soccer! He is a recent graduate of Marymount University where he played volleyball and studied Exercise Science. While at Marymount he coached many youth development camps which led him to discover how much he enjoys coaching kids! In addition to being a Soccer Shots coach he enjoys playing guitar and spending time with his wife and dog!
Coach Casey has played soccer since she was 3 years old! She played soccer at Liberty University for four years and studied elementary education. After graduation she taught elementary and middle school for 6 years. She stopped teaching in 2020 to stay home with her son and now stays home full time with her three kids (all 3 and under)! Coach Casey love coaching! She has coached all ages from U-10 Rec leagues to college camps and clinics. She also earned her refereeing license and started refereeing soccer for the first time last year. She still loves playing and has played in the local adult league for many seasons!
Coach Colleen has played soccer her whole life. She grew up in Charlottesville playing for SOCA and then played for the CNU Women’s Club Soccer Team. Colleen is currently a Master’s student at VCU in the Counselor Education Program. Colleen is so excited to show the sport she loves to all the kids she gets to coach!
Coach Cristian has been playing soccer since he took his first steps! He played club soccer his entire youth and a couple seasons in high school at south lakes. He enjoys playing soccer whenever he has the chance and loves to keep up with all things soccer. He is a student at VCU in the school of arts, focusing on graphic design. He hopes to get as many people to love and appreciate the “beautiful game”.
Coach Danni moved to Richmond, Virginia in 2013 from Garmisch, Germany. She was a “Military Brat” living and traveling all over the world. She grew up playing soccer in Alamogordo, New Mexico for an all girls soccer team – GO FLAMES! She is now a mom of 2 doing graphic design and photography. She truly enjoys the outdoor fun and just living life.
Coach Eddie is from Richmond, VA. He has been a long time soccer fan, attending VCU and Kickers games, as well as playing recreationally. He has run multiple after school programs in the Richmond area and has worked with kids and young adults since 2012. He enjoys painting and spending time along the James River!
Coach Evan was born in Washington, DC, and recently received a master’s degree in Elementary Education from VCU. Evan is a third-grade teacher at Lakeside Elementary and has played soccer since a very early age, and is a huge Liverpool fan. In his free time, he loves to watch sports and visit museums. He is particularly interested in dinosaurs, his favorite being the Triceratops.
Coach Hampton is from Virginia Beach, Virginia and is currently studying at Virginia Commonwealth University. He studies exercise science and minors in sports and fitness management. He has been playing soccer since elementary school. He is delighted to share his appreciation of the best sport in the world to the younger generation. He is passionate about watching soccer, and his favorite team to watch is Manchester United.
Coach Henry grew up playing soccer on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. After graduating from UVA with a degree in political theory he taught middle and high school history and civics on the Shore and Richmond for two years. Henry is grateful for the opportunity to coach the next generation of soccer stars! In his spare time, Henry enjoys trivia, live music, and reading.
Coach Irby is from Richmond, VA and grew up in the Short Pump area playing for the Richmond Strikers since the age of 7. Irby is earning a degree in History at VCU and plans to return for his Masters in Sports Leadership. He currently works as a high school coach for The Steward School during the fall seasons and Deep Run in the spring seasons and previously coached at Godwin where he has worked with some of Central Virginia’s top high school players for the last 5 years. Irby’s passion for soccer and sharing his knowledge of the game with kids and young adults is what gets him out of bed each and every day!
Coach John loves the game of soccer and has been playing soccer since the age of six. He went to John Tyler community College and Strayer University to study Homeland Security and Criminal Justice. John has experience coaching soccer in local youth clubs around the Richmond area. He love Serie A (Italian Professional Soccer League), United States Men’s National Team and anything on TV with soccer!
Coach Jacob is originally from West Palm Beach, Florida. He graduated from Norwich University with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a minor in P.E., Health, and Biology. He has played sports his whole life, and has always had a love and passion for soccer. When he is not on the field with your kiddos, you can find Coach Jacob spending time with his family and dog. Coach Jacob can’t wait to coach your children!
Coach Kelsey has been working with kids for the past couple of years, coaching and working after-school programs! She grew up on a farm in Fauquier county, where her favorite animals to play with were the goats. She moved to Richmond in 2014 and has been living in the area since. Kelsey graduated with a B.S. in exercise science and has played a wide variety of sports!
Coach Lauren grew up in Herndon, Virginia, where she played soccer throughout her childhood. She moved to Richmond, Virginia to attend VCU, where she is continuing her studies in hopes of becoming a children’s art therapist. Her goal as a Soccer Shots coach is to make a positive impact on children’s lives!
Coach Mark was born in Alexandria, Egypt but later moved to Richmond, Virginia at the age of 5. He attended Mills E Godwin High School and played soccer there while also running track. Soccer was his biggest passion since he was young. He has always loved playing, watching, and reading about soccer. He currently attends VCU with the goal of attending law school. Mark enjoys teaching young athletes about the sport he loves while also learning more about the beautiful game!
Coach Mark is a Soccer Shots coach from Staten Island, NY living in Richmond. He has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. Mark worked as an Exercise Specialist in NY and NJ and loves cooking, foreign cuisine and foreign movies. He enjoys swimming, the outdoors and foreign cuisine.
Coach Maria is from Richmond, Virginia, playing travel soccer for chesterfield united all throughout high school. Maria attended Virginia Commonwealth University and studied Health, Physical Education & Exercise science, with a concentration in Health science. Playing soccer was Coach Maria’s favorite thing growing up, and now she is excited to get to teach the beautiful game!
Coach Mario is currently attending VCU pursuing a degree in Broadcast Journalism with hopes to be a sport broadcaster. In his free time he loves to watch sports, and he is a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan! He also plays video games and loves to watch new movies that come out!
Coach Pavlos (“Coach Pav”) is from Athens, Greece and attended Manchester University in England, UK studying Sports Management. He has played semi-professional soccer in Greece and England and has professional experience working as a Sales & Marketing director for an engineering firm specializing in modular buildings. He’s been a soccer coach for the last 9 years gaining his qualifications in England, running camps all across the US East Coast, and coaching Soccer Shots for over 4 years!
Coach Shawn is from Newark, NJ where he grew up having a love for sports. He recently coached with Soccer Shots in Philadelphia and is excited to bring his passion for coaching soccer to the Richmond area. Shawn is a parent himself to a former Soccer Shots kid and loves the opportunity to make your child’s experience with Soccer Shots fun, engaging and memorable.
Coach Sivan is currently a student at VCU and is new to the Richmond area. Soccer has been a big part of her life, growing up watching premier league games with her dad on the weekends and finally getting on the field in 3rd grade, she’s always loved the game. She’s very excited to join the coaching team and share the love of soccer with the next generation!
Coach Tyler is a native of Richmond, VA . He studied at VCU and JTCC as a Music performance Major. He has experience teaching outdoor recreation, music camps, and childcare services for 4 years. He is an amazing musician and soccer coach!
