Originally from Southern CA, Dave attended Simpson University in Redding where he excelled as a scholar-athlete and captained the men’s varsity soccer team. With over twenty years of experience as a player, Dave has also played with and captained teams within the Premier Development and National Premier Soccer League. As an educator, he is ECE certified and a licensed coach. He and his wife, Megan, share a passion for their careers in child development. After spending four years helping lead and develop Soccer Shots in the Bay Area, the Barnett’s are thrilled to call Citrus Heights home and proud to share this wonderful program with the greater Sacramento community. In his spare time, Coach Dave can be found competing in triathlons, playing soccer, traveling and going on adventures with his wife, Megan, and daughter, Lena.
Originally from San Jose, Megan joined her husband Dave in running Soccer Shots after his first year—and never looked back. As the Integrator, she’s the behind-the-scenes glue, bringing structure, systems, and a focus on team health to everything the organization does. Megan is passionate about building strong teams and developing leaders, and she finds real joy in seeing the impact Soccer Shots has on individual children and their families. Outside of work, she loves spending quality time with close friends and family, heading out for a hike, or exploring the zoo with her daughter. She keeps things grounded, organized, and moving forward—and always makes room for the moments that matter most.
Coach Ashley brings elite playing experience, academic excellence, and a deep passion for youth development. Originally from Oakdale, she played competitively for nearly a decade before joining the Division 1 program at the University of the Pacific, where she earned her Master’s in Health, Exercise, and Sports Science. As our Director of Coaching, Ashley leads with care, intentionality, and high standards—shaping a program where both coaches and kids thrive. Fully ECE-certified and a former college coach, Ashley blends soccer knowledge with child development insight. Off the field, she enjoys traveling, time with loved ones, and learning Portuguese. She’s also a skilled blackjack dealer and still plays the game she loves.
Originally from Brazil, Coach Arthur brings an infectious passion for soccer and an exceptional drive for growth—both personally and professionally. A former collegiate player at Central Christian College of Kansas, where he earned his degree in Exercise Science, Arthur now serves as our Director of Business Development. In this role, he leads with bold ideas and a deep love for the game, helping expand our impact across the Sacramento region. A certified personal trainer and Ironman, Arthur is relentless in pursuit of excellence, both on the field and in the community. Off the clock, you’ll find him creating content for his YouTube channel, dominating FIFA, or dreaming up what’s next.
Born and raised in Colfax, Coach Hunter brings a steady, caring presence to every session. After starting in real estate, he followed his heart toward coaching—spending the last five years leading camps, working in schools, and serving as a youth leader. Now, as our Coaching Coordinator, Hunter supports and uplifts our coaching team with humility, consistency, and a deep belief in the impact we make. He hopes every child leaves his sessions feeling seen, encouraged, and excited to come back. Outside of soccer, he loves spending time with his two-year-old daughter and cheering on Chelsea FC.
Born in San Diego and raised in the Bay Area, Coach Kelsey brings both creativity and heart to Soccer Shots. She holds a BFA in Graphic Design from Boise State and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and previously spent three years teaching TK and Kindergarten. She discovered Soccer Shots while searching for a program for her toddler—and quickly realized it was the perfect way to reconnect with her love for working with kids. Now, as both a coach and our content creator, Kelsey helps tell the story of Soccer Shots while creating fun, supportive spaces for kids to grow. Outside of work, she loves soaking up the sunshine and spending time outdoors.
Coach Chloe has been with Soccer Shots for over two years and brings a calm, encouraging presence to every session. A lifelong soccer player and natural educator, she’s currently earning her Master’s in Education at Sac State with plans to become a second-grade teacher. As our Head Trainer & Coach, Chloe leads by example—supporting new coaches, modeling strong teaching, and helping every child grow in both confidence and coordination. She’s passionate about creating a space where kids feel seen, supported, and excited to learn. Outside of coaching, she enjoys rock climbing, hiking, and spending time outdoors—especially snowboarding, roller skating, or swimming at the lake.
Originally from Reno, Coach Adrian brings a strong background in both education and high-level soccer. He earned his Kinesiology degree from Simpson University and is now pursuing his Master’s at Jessup. A former college player, Adrian also coaches competitive and academy-level teams for ages 5–19. As a Soccer Shots coach and trainer, he’s passionate about creating sessions that blend skill-building with character development—making sure every child feels both challenged and encouraged. Outside of coaching, he enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with his fiancée and their two cats, Sammie and Frodo. Favorite food? Pizza, always.
Born and raised in Roseville, Coach Sean brings both passion and playfulness to the field. He played competitive soccer for 18 years and is currently studying fire science at Butte College, with plans to become a firefighter. With two years of experience training kids, Sean loves using soccer as a way to build confidence and connection. As a coach and trainer, he brings energy, positivity, and a big heart to every session. Outside of Soccer Shots, he enjoys skateboarding, snowboarding, juggling a soccer ball, and volunteering with Toys for Tots. Proud Chelsea FC fan!
Born in Sofia, Bulgaria and raised in Fairfield, California, Coach T found his love for soccer early—playing goalie and center mid throughout middle and high school. With over two years at Soccer Shots, he brings energy, encouragement, and heart to every session. As a Trainer Coach, he supports and inspires fellow coaches while creating a fun, positive experience for every child on Soccer Island. Outside of coaching, Coach T works full-time as a manager at Koinonia, a nonprofit supporting foster youth. In his spare time, he loves lifting weights, writing songs, and playing the guitar and saxophone. He’s also a multi-sport endurance athlete who competes in Spartan races and triathlons—and he never misses line dancing on Wednesday nights.
Known by many as “Coach Turbo,” Coach Arturo has been with Soccer Shots for over three years and brings over 15 years of playing experience to the field. Raised in San Mateo, he earned his degree in Business Administration from CSU East Bay. His love for working with kids began at his grandma’s daycare, and he’s been passionate about helping children grow ever since. As a Soccer Shots Captain, Arturo leads with playfulness, care, and confidence—using his skills and energy to create joyful, high-impact sessions that kids look forward to. Outside of soccer, he enjoys cooking, biking, mixing music, and chasing the perfect mango.
With over 20 years of coaching experience and two years at Soccer Shots, Coach Ed brings wisdom, warmth, and a lifelong love for the game. A SoCal native raised in NorCal, he’s played soccer since age 5 and holds certifications in both Early Childhood Education and Fitness. As a Soccer Shots Captain, Ed is known for his calm leadership, genuine care for kids, and the strong relationships he’s built at every school he coaches. Beloved by staff, kids, and families alike, he’s passionate about helping children fall in love with soccer while learning teamwork and having fun. Outside of coaching, he’s a proud sports junkie who enjoys BBQ, coaching high school soccer, and cheering on Sac Republic—especially when they won the USL Final in their inaugural season.
Coach Zwannah—better known as “Coach Z”—has been with Soccer Shots for over two years and brings energy, laughter, and heart to every session. Born in Liberia and raised in Roseville, he’s been playing soccer since age 3 and was a standout at Oakmont High before continuing at Folsom Lake College. He now plays semi-pro for Sac Gold and leads by example as a Soccer Shots Lead Coach. Known for his hilarious sense of humor, kind heart, and attentive coaching style, Coach Z makes every child feel seen, supported, and excited to play. Outside of soccer, he enjoys anime, video editing, and competing at the highest level—he’s ranked in the top 50 in the world for FIFA Mobile.
Born and raised in Berkeley, Coach Marissa brings an enthusiastic, creative presence to Soccer Island. With 18 years of playing experience and 4 years of coaching, she’s passionate about helping kids grow in confidence—both on and off the field. As a Lead Coach, she models patience, care, and connection in every session. Marissa is currently studying to become a respiratory therapist at American River College and also works in behavioral therapy, supporting children on the autism spectrum. Outside of coaching, she enjoys arts and crafts, crocheting, making jewelry, and learning guitar. She’s a big fan of pizza—and her dog, Quila.
A Sacramento native, Coach Kam brings both deep local roots and a lifelong love for the game. She’s played since age 4—starting with West Sac Soccer Club and later competing with Sacramento United, Davis Legacy, and Sacramento State, where she earned her degree in Kinesiology. Now in grad school working toward becoming a Physical Therapist, Kam blends her passion for movement with a heart for mentoring. As a Lead Coach, she leads with calm confidence, modeling teamwork, leadership, and perseverance—values shaped by her own soccer journey. Outside of coaching, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, traveling, playing soccer, and baking sweet treats.
Born and raised in Sacramento, Coach Ryan brings focus, patience, and a genuine love for the game to Soccer Shots. With 13 years of playing experience and over a year coaching elementary students with Elite Soccer, he’s passionate about helping kids grow—both as athletes and as individuals. Now studying electrical engineering at Cosumnes River College, Ryan blends structure and care in every session. As a Lead Coach, his goal is to help each child build confidence, develop life skills, and discover the joy of the game. Off the field, he enjoys playing soccer, going to the gym, and studying—and he’s often crowned “King of the Pitch” at the local indoor facility, Le Five.
Originally from Massachusetts, Coach Griffin moved to Folsom in 6th grade and now studies Finance and Psychology at Folsom Lake College. A former club player with a passion for connecting with kids, he knew Soccer Shots was the perfect place to blend his love for the game with a desire to make a positive impact. As a Lead Coach, Griffin brings warmth, encouragement, and a team-first mindset to every session—helping kids build friendships, grow in confidence, and fall in love with soccer. Outside of coaching, he enjoys golfing, working out, spending time with family, and dining out with his wife. Fun fact: he’s learning Portuguese (his wife is Brazilian!) and proudly supports Chelsea FC.
Originally from San Francisco and raised in Sacramento, Coach Daniel brings energy, enthusiasm, and a heart for helping kids grow. He played varsity soccer in high school—serving as team captain for two years—and spent six years as a youth referee. Now studying Kinesiology at Sacramento State after earning his A.S. in Fire Technology, he’s also an EMT actively applying to fire departments across California. As a Lead Coach, Daniel brings a steady mix of fun, focus, and encouragement to every session. Outside of Soccer Island, he enjoys painting, playing sports, and bringing joy wherever he goes. Fun facts: he’s ridden a goat, used to sing at parties, and still paints just for fun.
Born and raised in Sacramento, Coach Ashlee brings a joyful, inclusive spirit to every session. A former multi-sport athlete, she played soccer, softball, and volleyball before earning her Psychology degree from Sacramento State and completing her Master’s in Education and Teaching Credential at UC Davis. As both a Lead Coach and first-grade teacher, Ashlee is passionate about teaching teamwork, perseverance, and a love for learning—on and off the field. She also has experience as an ABA therapist, supporting children with autism in building essential life skills. Outside of coaching, she enjoys working out, baking, playing sports, and spending time with family. Her dream? Living on a farm surrounded by animals.
Born and raised in Granite Bay, Coach Ryan brings a kind, playful spirit to Soccer Shots. He studied American Studies at UC Berkeley, where he also worked in a variety of roles supporting children—including four summers at Lair of the Bear camp, leading preteens and teens. A lifelong soccer player and firm believer in the power of play, Ryan is passionate about giving kids a fun, encouraging start in the sport he loves. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, reading, and the occasional cartwheel. Fun facts: he’s a second-degree black belt and once spent a full year living in a tent in Stanislaus National Forest.
Originally from England, Coach Amy moved to California at age 10 and now calls Sacramento home. She studied Early Childhood Education at Folsom Lake College and recently earned her Master Teacher Certificate. With nearly seven years of experience working with children—including in art, ballet, and special education—she brings warmth, creativity, and care to every session. As a Lead Coach, Amy is passionate about using active play to build confidence, life skills, and connection. Though she didn’t grow up playing competitively, her passion for the game comes naturally—thanks to her English roots. Outside of coaching, she enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, indoor rock climbing—and she’s traveled to 18 countries and counting.
