Coach Joe moved to San Diego from Arkansas to attend graduate school at San Diego State University where he led an international research project on the Coronados Islands of Mexico. He has played soccer his entire life, and has been coaching and working with kids for over fifteen years. He loves working with Soccer Shots, making kids laugh, and talking with his students. Coach Joe is passionate about education, positive communication, and the important role that sports and physical activity play in a child’s development.
He is an archeologist and has an archaeological project on the Coronados Islands of Mexico.
He used to live on a small farm with his cats, ducks, chickens, and goat.

Coach Phil has been in the Soccer Shots family for over three years. He
came for the soccer, but he stayed for the fun that comes with teaching
kids. He is a certified soccer coach, referee, and substitute teacher who has
taken courses in early childhood education.

Coach James has been coaching youth soccer for almost ten years, since he
first volunteered as an assistant for his younger sister’s rec team. He has
also coached at the High School level and played in College, and worked as
a summer camp counselor for 5 years. He loves helping kids fall in love
with the beautiful game and hopes to give them a foundation to develop
their skills if they want to pursue the game as they grow.
He’s a published poet.
In college, he played D3 soccer,
performed with an improv
comedy group, and hosted his
own radio show.

Coach Adrian has been coaching for 3 years, starting from Soccer Shots
Connecticut. He says Soccer Shots allows him to connect with the game he
loves so much and to pass it on to eager and excited young boys and girls.
Outside Soccer Shots, he works in ABA Therapy where he serves as a
Clinical Supervisor working with families and children on the autism
spectrum. His goal is to make this game fun for our participants and spark
a joy for being on the field that will last for years to come.
