Where can my child participate in Soccer Shots?

Soccer Shots is held at childcare centers, preschools and schools, as well as public locations. Our public programs are open to the general public while our childcare center and school programs are only open to those enrolled at the location.

What type of equipment will my child need to participate?

Soccer Shots provides all of the equipment needed at each of our sessions. Your child should wear activity-appropriate clothing. Cleats and shin guards are NOT necessary.

How do I know the locations of the park programs?

To find public programs in your area, select Enroll Now at the top of this page.

Can I have Soccer Shots start a park program near me?

Yes! We are always willing to start a public program near you. The easiest way for this to happen is for you to form a group of eight children willing to take part in a Soccer Shots season. These could be children from your neighborhood, friends from church or synagogue, or your parent groups. We're happy to help talk through ideas on how to make this happen. Please contact your local director for more information.

What can I expect from a Soccer Shots session?

Our weekly 30-40 minute sessions focus on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing and shooting. Through fun games and positive reinforcement, children will begin to experience the joy of playing soccer and being active. We also highlight a positive character trait each session such as respect, teamwork and appreciation.

What happens if a session is cancelled due to inclement weather?

Soccer Shots attempts to make up all missed sessions during the course of a season. We will either add an additional week to the season or choose a make-up day.

How do I know if a session is cancelled due to in inclement weather?

In the case of inclement weather, Soccer Shots will notify you of any cancelations and make up sessions. We generally try to notify you of cancelations at least 2 hours before the start of the session.

How does Soccer Shots make weather-related decisions?

We believe that every All-Star wakes up excited to play with us on Soccer Island, so Soccer Shots is always ON unless you hear from us. This means that we often wait to make a decision until close to class time, as the weather in Houston passes quickly and can be quite different from one part of the city to another. In the case of intermittent weather, our coach will arrive 30 minutes before class time to determine if the conditions are safe to play. If we need to cancel, you will receive a text and/or email. A quick primer on how we evaluate whether it’s a safe and fun environment for your All-Star: 1. We evaluate the playable condition of the surface on Soccer Island. Based on our city permits (which we acquire for every public location), we have some restrictions on where we can and cannot play. In the case of standing water or mud, we will attempt to move to another area in the park as long as it doesn’t interfere with other permitted groups. We also seek to maintain positive relationships with our city partners and consider what effect we will have on the play space beyond that day. 2. We evaluate the current atmospheric conditions – is it light rain or heavy rain? Are there thunderstorms nearby? What is the current temperature? Typically, light rain in warm weather = green light. Heavy rain or thunderstorms = red light. Clear skies in cold weather = green light. Any rain in cold weather = red light. 3. We look at the radar to evaluate future atmospheric conditions. Is the current weather continuing for a short time or for multiple hours? 4. Then, we make a decision and notify families ASAP if we have to cancel the fun for that day. In short, we always aim to deliver our program to your All-Stars, with a healthy dose of reason and rationality mixed in! We thank all our families in advance for understanding how tricky the weather can be!

When are the scheduled make-up days for classes missed due to weather?

At Childcare Centers, we coordinate those days with the school staff. They are typically in the 2 weeks after the last class date. At Weekday Public/Park locations, make-up classes are typically scheduled in the 2 weeks after the last class date. At Saturday Public/Park locations, make-up classes are typically scheduled on the Sunday after the last class date or the following Saturday.

Does Soccer Shots offer a make-up class for a class missed due to personal reasons?

Yes. While we believe that your All-Star will benefit the most with consistent attendance at their scheduled class, we do allow 1 make-up class for class missed due to vacation or illness. Simply find another available class on our site at houston.soccershots.com that you can attend and that matches your current curriculum. Then give us a call so we can confirm that class works for your child to attend. If a class says “FULL”, it is not available as a make-up option so we ensure our ratios are safe and class quality isn’t affected. We also don’t make this option available on our last class day, as our coaches are distributing prizes and certificates. Once we confirm the make-up class, we’ll notify our coach that your child will attend!

Does Soccer Shots offer refunds?

Yes. If, for any reason, we have to cancel a season prior to the start of the season we offer a full refund or credit to your Soccer Shots account. If, for any reason, we have to cancel a season once the season has begun we offer a prorated refund or credit to your Soccer Shots account. At heart, Soccer Shots Houston aims to deliver a beloved growth experience for every child and a remarkable experience for every family. If you and your child are not positively impacted by your Soccer Shots experience, we offer a refund or credit for any future season.

Will my child get a Soccer Shots jersey?

If you enroll your child in Soccer Shots to participate in anywhere from one to multiple seasons of Soccer Shots throughout a year, your child will receive a youth jersey. Youth jerseys are distributed one time per year and are included in the cost of enrollment, regardless of the number of seasons you sign your child up for within that year. Jerseys are distributed via mail and addressed to the child. You will receive tracking information once the jersey has shipped to your address. Please understand that if you enroll within two weeks of the season start date, your child is not guaranteed to receive their jersey before the first session. Should you have any questions about your child’s youth jersey shipment, or if you would like to exchange sizes, please [email protected]. Please note, some Soccer Shots programs do not include jerseys, such as birthday parties, demos, free play days and school-paid sessions.

How do I exchange or return a Soccer Shots jersey?

If you need to exchange your child’s jersey for a different size, please contact [email protected]. Please provide your name, your child’s name, your shipping address, the size you received and the size you are requesting. You will receive a response within 1 business day that will include a prepaid return label. Please return your jersey as soon as possible. After we receive confirmation that the jersey has shipped, we will send you your requested exchange jersey. Please note, jerseys must be in new condition with the tag still attached to be accepted as a return.

How do I know how my child is doing in a Childcare Center/Preschool class?

This is one of the most common questions we get. Here’s what we offer: for our Spring and Fall seasons, we send a mid-season progress report home with your child that gives a brief overview of how they are doing in class. We also provide an end-of-season certificate that details your child’s favorite skill, game, and the character word they exemplified the most. Further, you are always welcome to come watch your child play as long as you confirm your attendance with the school before you arrive. If you are curious to know how your child is doing beyond our progress report and certificate, please reach out to us by phone or email and we’re happy to reach out to your coach for an All-Star update!

Does Soccer Shots provide photos of videos during the season?

At this time, we do not provide photos or videos of our classes. Our coaches are guests at our childcare center locations, and we only have your children in our program for 30-40 minutes. We ask our coaches to put their full and undivided attention towards the children in their care and to leave their phone/camera for class emergencies only. Please check with your Childcare Center/Preschool to see if they have photos or videos on a Center shared site.
